Vinnie Tortorich and more…

Hello, again.  As usual, I was determined to keep up with this blog, but life got in the way.  So a few quick updates…

I finished my work on the new season and it’s now in the hands of Mitch Hurwitz. We want to preserve surprises, so I’ll only say if you liked the other seasons, I think you’ll really like this one.

I shot a pilot for a new cop comedy for the FX network with Denis Leary, Jim Serpico and Tom Selitti — my producing partners on the project.  I love it.  We’re waiting to find out if FX is planning to move forward with it.  We shot in NY (my favorite city) and had a great time.  Fingers crossed.

I did something a little different.  I wrote a non-fiction book with a guy named Vinnie Tortorich, who’s been a personal trainer for over 30 years, training the rich, famous and obnoxious in Beverly Hills.  He’s hilarious, with great stories and solid fitness advice.  If you just listen to him and do what he says, you’ll get fit.  And you’ll have fun doing it.  Promise.

We’re keeping the title of the book under wraps for the moment, but it will be available later this year.  Vinnie has a hit podcast on iTunes. It’s also available on his website. He puts it together with his genius co-star Anna Vocino.  It’s raunchy, funny and has the freshest take on fitness I’ve ever heard.  I was just a guest on it.  Check it out if you get a chance.  It’s really fun — and also very R-rated, which I mention because kids sometimes come to this site for NIGHTMARE ACADEMY stuff and it’s not appropriate for them.

My oldest son, Chris, is in high school now, which is shocking to me.  Not sure how that happened.  And Alex just started middle school.  Also shocking.  How did they get so old while Elizabeth and I stayed so young and beautiful?  It’s a puzzle.

As usual, there’s a ton of things I’m working on that are in various stages of completion.  It seems like you have to pour your heart and soul into at least five projects for every one that moves forward.  That said, I’m putting together something pretty cool with my buddy Adam Reed, who’s the creator and showrunner of ARCHER, the animated hit on FX.  And then there are a couple other TV scripts I’m noodling along.  And then another book thing…

Hope these holidays find you all well and happy.
